Spotify Premium is awesome
Maddy surprised me the other day with a subscription to Spotify premium.  For only $10/mo it offers two huge benefits: No annoying ads.  Nothing cramps your listening like a Spotify ad.  They are often poorly done, and some are even poorly recorded (I can hear ‘pops’ like the voice over person was too close to the mic).  Now there are none! Offline playlists on my iPod Touch for...

My favorite line: The S.C. Republican Party no longer needed my $400,000, but being Southern gentlemen, they graciously offered to still want it.

Looking for co-founders (tech and non-tech)
For the past 2+ years I’ve been quietly working on a startup called PatientCommunicator.com, a communications platform for doctors to allow their patients to easily connect and take care of non-urgent requests online rather than via the phone. It was just accepted to Blueprint Health, a Techstars-affiliated incubator for healthcare startups. The program starts January 9. Trouble is,...

Check out this addictive game my friend made
My old college roommate Jesse put this game together.  It’s called “Black Ball” and deserves to be under the “Funky Funky Games” label.  Nice work! But don’t get stuck here… I couldn’t get out.

From the Porch: Promoted/Social Discovery and, um,... →
Kudos, Dave, for finally learning how to do a short blog post deserving of the space on Tumblr! porchdog: Just thinking about promoted / social discovery a bit more here…. I rambled last week about how Twitter will make lotsa money from promoted tweets similar to how StumbleUpon already makes lotsa money from promoted stumbles (both = promoted discovery); and a few weeks prior re foursquare...

Can the 99 Percent Movement Reinvigorate... →
Another great post by Charlie Komanoff about congestion pricing. He is the expert on this stuff and knows better than anyone how badly NYC needs to charge more for the right to drive freely on our clogged streets.  Congestion pricing - like a $10 toll on all bridges and tunnels - is a no-brainer.  And as a car-owner myself I think it’s absurd that we can own and operate a car for virtually...

Let me know if you or someone you know wants this and I’ll put you in touch with the head of product strategy/mgmt at Serve at Amex.  This is a product management role (not product development - more like strategy, customer experience, product roadmap, etc.) and ideal candidates are smart, super motivated w/ some product strategy/mgmt experience.  Great opportunity for up and comers…...

Latest "Office" intro - Dwight and the standing...
That was hilarious.  ”Every second you sit takes an hour off your life.” Right on!  I love my geekdesk.  I’m waiting for the episode where Dwight changes his keyboard layout to one more optimal than QWERTY.
