Who I Follow

For the past 2+ years I’ve been quietly working on a startup called PatientCommunicator.com, a communications platform for doctors to allow their patients to easily connect and take care of non-urgent requests online rather than via the phone. It was just accepted to Blueprint Health, a Techstars-affiliated incubator for healthcare startups. The program starts January 9.

Trouble is, it’s basically just me. So I’m looking for two people who are hungry for an opportunity to build something amazing …

A BD/Sales/Finance type who can make a million calls a day, gab with doctors and companies about license deals, go to offices and demo the product online and off, and jump right into fundraising while keeping our books neat and tidy.

A LAMP developer well-versed in PHP/Jquery/JS/Symfony who will be able to jump into a fully baked product. We’ll need new features built continually, as well as data integrations with other products such as EMRs. You’ll initially be working with the developer who built the product and will ultimately take the baton.

These people should be:

  • Interested in healthcare, particularly from the doctor’s perspective of how to make their operations more efficient
  • Unfazed by the scrappy entrepreneur lifestyle and are ready to work 80+ hrs/wk
  • Happy with little pay, maybe $500-1k per month
  • In NYC or can spend at least 4 days/wk in NYC.

I’d like to try to get at least one person on board before the program begins. I’m ready to meet with anyone so please pass this along to anyone you think might fit the description. As you know, I’m awesome to work with ;-) So I’m looking for someone equally awesome to get the most out of this program.

I think this is a pretty amazing opportunity for anyone looking for the next thing to work on.

Check out the clips and links below for more about the company.

Patient Communicator is a communications platform for doctors.  It allows patients to do online all the things they’d normally call for - appointments, prescriptions, requests, referrals, copays.  All of these requests come in as structured tasks and the doctor can act on them in literally a single click.  What other systems take 10-15 minutes to accomplish, Patient Communicator can knock out in seconds. Patient Communicator was designed by a busy Internist so we’ve optimized every aspect of the operations in a typical chaotic office.  As a result, Dr. Novich runs his entire practice by himself and slashed his overhead from 40% to under 15%.  His high tech medical practice is powered by Patient Communicator and was profiled in Forbes in March.  Patient Communicator allows offices to cut down on incoming phone calls and run smoother and more efficiently.
